Time to start blogging again.  Many things to tell you about. If you haven’t been to Wild Apple Gallery in Menasha, WI, now would be a great time to visit.  I have some of my work featured there thru February 26, 2015.  I did quite a bit of Christmas shopping there this year.  Unique gifts you won’t find anywhere else.  Wild Apple is an art gallery/gift shop where you can take glass lampwork classes from owner, Mary Jo Weidert.

Virginia Spiegel has been raising money annually to fight cancer.  This is a new and novel undertaking.  100 prominent fiber artists were invited to participate and gift a piece of their artwork.  So there will be 100 pieces of art all being priced at $100 each.  The patrons will donate $100 and receive a randomly chosen fabulous piece of fiber art from one of these artists.  It is an exciting and unique method of raising funds for a worthwhile cause.  Hope you check it out!  Only the first 100 Patrons will be eligible for one of these fiber artworks.

My piece “Remnants of Home #4” is part of a series I have been working on inspired by the Wisconsin farmlands that surround me and where I’ve grown up.  I see all of these charming and unique farms and homesteads where the buildings were built and cobbled to meet the needs of the farmer at that time.  These interesting sheds, barns, chicken coops, etc. are deteriorating and will soon be no more.  I love the unique configurations that were built and rebuilt to adjust to changing needs and refinements.  As the granddaughter of farm families I really appreciate the value and charm of the family homestead.  With the evolution to corporate farming these buildings and homesteads will become a thing of the past.  In a small way I am trying to preserve these memories.
